Presented by Albany Sinfonia
Join the Albany Sinfonia as they mark 30 years of extraordinary music-making with a thrilling anniversary concert conducted by Roger Hey!
This special event showcases a dynamic selection of beloved orchestral works spanning three centuries, reflecting the ensemble’s rich history and artistic growth since their inaugural performance in 1995.
Audiences will be transported by iconic nationalistic compositions, including Smetana’s 'The Moldau', Brahms’ 'Academic Festival Overture', Vaughan Williams’ 'Fantasia on Greensleeves', and Peter Sculthorpe’s evocative 'Small Town'. Adding a distinctly contemporary touch, the program also features a 21st-century Western Australian work by renowned composer and former Perth Festival Director, Iain Grandage.
The highlight of the evening will be an electrifying performance of Gershwin’s 'Rhapsody in Blue', with acclaimed pianist Adam Cook from Denmark taking centre stage. This beloved jazz-inspired piece will delight audiences with its energy and beautiful orchestration.
Honouring their legacy, the Albany Sinfonia will also revisit key works from their debut concert, offering a moving reflection on their evolution over three decades. With a special appearance from Albany Chamber Orchestra, don’t miss this unforgettable afternoon of music, history, and celebration!
