Presented by Music on the Terrace
Astor Piazzolla was born in Argentina but moved to New York as a child, immersing himself in the music culture of that city - jazz, classical and the blues - while also exploring and practising the music of his homeland.
His own compositions show a compelling blend of these various influences but are most strongly influenced by the Argentinian Tango.
Piazzolla’s Four Seasons was written for his tango quintet and subsequently arranged for strings with a nod to Vivaldi’s famous Four Seasons. Violinist Kylie Liang will be our soloist and lead the string orchestra for this upbeat and energetic concert.
